There are a number of quotes which Christians like putting across which are not right in meaning. They probably sound good and rhyme so well but in real sense, they are not in tandem with Christ's teaching. Here are some of the most common.

1. When you get to the end, that is when God shows up.

Most people use the story of Israelites coming out of Egypt. When they came to the Red sea God indeed showed up and divided the waters so they could cross. But wait a minute, God did not show up then! He was with them from Egypt. Do not make it sound like they had planned to meet there and so now he takes over. I always say, " If you walk with God, you will never come to a dead end."

The phrase is only applicable for that sinner who knew not God and finally decides to get saved. But if you are a Christian who decides to venture into life without making known to God your plans, they will soon come crumbling down. Then you can use the phrase but we both know it was your fault.

2. When you are down to nothing, God is up to something.

This is especially used by people who are really low and down trodden. So they want to encourage themselves that at this low point, when they cant get lower-God will move. Well, this is very wrong. God is not moved by tears (ask Hannah) He is not moved by threats nor is he moved by Self Pity. God is moved by FAITH. and faith without works is dead. So if you are down to nothing, and doing nothing about your situation-then God is absolutely up to nothing too. Rise up and do some act of FAITH and move God so he is up to something. When Hannah stopped crying and told God he will bring the child to dwell in the temple, God was like- "Now you are talking" - and He was up to something - project Samuel.

3. God helps those who help themselves.

I agree that this quote does emphasize on the importance of initiative. But the God in question cannot be Jehovah.  The phrase originated in ancient Greece and may originally have been proverbial.

Whatever the original source of this saying, the Bible teaches the opposite. God helps the helpless! Isaiah 25:4 declares, "For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat..." Romans 5:6 tells us, "For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly."

4. God works in mysterious ways.

This is a paraphrase of a 19th century hymn by the English poet William Cowper (“God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform). The truth is God works in miraculous ways and not mysterious.

Knowing God’s ways is the same as knowing God, and it is one step deeper than knowing “about” God. We need to know His ways so that we won’t be bowled over and crushed by circumstances that bring us pain. If therefore His works or ways were mysterious, it would be hard to know Him.

5.  Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

This phrase was coined by John Wesley, the 18th century evangelist who founded Methodism, says Thomas Kidd, a history professor at Baylor University in Texas.

Unless the "Cleanliness" in question is to do with the mind, then being clean on the out is no sign of being close to God. As far as the bible is concerned, Christ welcomes all to Him irregardless of gender, social status, health, age, etc The Kingdom of God is a Spiritual one and so is God. Those who worship him must do so in truth and in Spirit (John 4:24). The bible does not say in truth, spirit and in white!

The moment the Electoral body closes the files and a new government is in place, the opposition ought to stop politics and embark on keeping the government in check.
